GSI is developing relationships
with business and government organizations in the local and Kansas
City areas with a view to providing internships for any students
seeking a Global Studies or related degree. The institute also strives
to promote transition from internships to jobs with companies and
agencies involved in work in an international environment.
This year the GSI staff will be working to create two view books,
one for internships and one for job opportunities with multinational
firms or firms in the Kansas City area which do international business.
These view books will be available in the GSI office for any student
seeking internships or jobs in the Kansas City area.
In addition, GSI facilitates the university's study/work-abroad programs and
strives to provide annual travel experiences abroad for interested students.
In the spring semester GSI sponsored a field trip to Japan. In the coming academic
year we plan to establish the Starr Scholar Programs for students wishing to
study poverty in the western hemisphere. See home page for notes on this new
program
